A tragic incident occurred in the Vwei community, located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, when 18 cows died after grazing on a recently fumigated farmland. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, around noon, when the cows belonging to a local farmer, Danazumi Haruna, wandered into the treated area. According to reports, seven of the cows were slaughtered to prevent further contamination, while 11 others died on the spot due to exposure to the chemicals. Additionally, 15 other cattle affected by the exposure are receiving medical treatment. Local sources confirm the details of the unfortunate event.
