Abia Man Sets Family Ablaze Over Infidelity Accusation; Dies Alongside Wife After Child’s Death

A man in Abia set his family home on fire over infidelity claims, killing his child and dying with his wife after hospital treatment. Police confirm all three dead.

A devastating fire in Abia State claimed the lives of a man, his wife, and their 2-year-old daughter after the man set their home on fire following accusations of infidelity. The Abia State Police confirmed that 40-year-old Mr. Udochi Amala, his wife, and their child died in the tragic blaze in Asa Umudioka community, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area. On May 16, 2025, the local vigilante group heard screams and saw smoke from the Amala family residence. They reported the incident to the police, who found the child deceased at the scene. Mr. Amala had accused his wife of unfaithfulness and intentionally ignited the fire, trapping the family inside. Both the wife and Mr. Amala were taken to the hospital with serious burns, but sadly, both passed away the following day. The police had arrested Mr. Amala before his death. The tragedy has left the community shocked, shedding light on the dangers of domestic conflicts escalating to fatal violence.
