Actor Ugezu Ugezu has drawn widespread attention after posting a video online that shows him performing a traditional ritual involving animal blood. In the footage, Ugezu is seen praying while holding a plate with ritual items, surrounded by other objects laid out on the floor. Visible in the video is a pool of blood, which the actor later clarified came from a ram.
He explained that the ritual was done specifically for umu nwadiana, a term used to describe children born to married daughters of a community. According to him, the act was deeply rooted in cultural tradition and carried no ties to witchcraft or spiritual manipulation. Ugezu insisted that what was seen in the video was “100% tradition.”
Reactions have been divided. While some viewers praised him for embracing and showcasing cultural heritage, others criticized the use of blood, expressing discomfort and concern over the visual elements of the ritual. The online debate reflects the ongoing tension between preserving indigenous practices and modern beliefs about spirituality and superstition.
The video continues to circulate on social media, sparking discussions about cultural rituals, misinterpretations, and how such traditions are perceived by the public today.
