The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State has strongly denied rumors linking it to Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing suggestions that the governor is secretly financing the party or planning to use it as a fallback option for the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued in Makurdi by Stevie Ayua, Publicity Secretary of the ADC State Steering Committee, the party said the allegations were the work of political enemies aiming to damage its reputation and mislead the public.
Ayua explained that after its official unveiling on July 10, 2025, the ADC immediately began grassroots mobilization and membership drives across the state. He emphasized that all party activities, including awareness campaigns and the inauguration of local government chapters, are funded solely by voluntary contributions from committed members and stakeholders—not by any external figure, including Governor Alia.
He firmly stated that the ADC maintains full independence from any political officeholder, including the sitting governor, and has not received, nor will it accept, any financial support from non-members.
The party declared that it had no affiliations, direct or indirect, with Governor Alia or the APC, countering circulating speculation that Alia might turn to the ADC if denied a second-term ticket by his party.
While the ADC welcomes all Nigerians who align with its values, it warned that it would not serve as a vehicle for politicians merely seeking political survival. The statement underscored the party’s mission to rebuild Benue and Nigeria through integrity, transparency, and progressive policies, vowing not to be a platform for opportunists.
The ADC urged those spreading falsehoods to address internal issues in their own parties rather than attempt to derail a party that is focused on offering real change and credible leadership in 2027.
