The APC Youth Liberation Movement in Osun State has described the potential defection of Governor Ademola Adeleke to the All Progressives Congress as a major political advantage that would significantly boost the party’s chances in future elections. According to the group, which operates under the Directorate of Youth Organisations within the party, Governor Adeleke’s entry would not only strengthen the APC but also position it strategically for a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released by the State Coordinator, Comrade Ajasa Oluwaseun, the group highlighted Adeleke’s formidable political influence and electoral record as a valuable asset. Ajasa pointed out that despite the APC’s dominance at the state and federal levels in 2017, Adeleke managed to defeat its candidate in nine out of ten local government areas during the Osun West Senatorial bye-election. He also reminded the public of the governor’s strong performance in the 2018 gubernatorial election and his eventual triumph in 2022, where he unseated the incumbent governor.
Ajasa emphasized that Adeleke has the constitutional freedom to associate with any political party and argued that his inclusion in the APC fold would bring significant momentum to the party’s future campaigns. He urged party members to view the development as a positive step rather than a cause for division.
The youth group also criticized former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, for referring to Governor Adeleke as an “orphan.” They condemned the comment as inappropriate and harmful to party unity, stating that such remarks undermine efforts to reposition the APC for broader success. The group called on party leaders to focus on collaboration rather than personal attacks.
