Air India has confirmed that Flight 171, traveling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in a fatal crash on Thursday. According to the airline’s chairman, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the event was described as a “tragic accident.” He expressed deep sympathy for the victims, stating that the airline’s thoughts are with the families and loved ones of everyone affected.
To support those impacted, an emergency response center has been launched, along with a dedicated team to assist families seeking information. A local official at Ahmedabad airport reported that the aircraft had more than 200 passengers onboard. Flight AI171 was operating on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, a wide-body aircraft typically configured to carry over 200 people.
