Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo has emphasized that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain resolute in their support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite continued opposition and criticism. This statement was made after a closed-door meeting with APC governors and ministers in Abuja on Wednesday. As chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Uzodimma highlighted that despite the ongoing opposition, President Tinubu’s reform-focused governance continues to achieve success.
“At the start of this administration, the opposition was very vocal in criticizing the government’s reforms. However, today, the president is being vindicated,” Uzodimma stated. He pointed out that global institutions like the World Bank and the IMF are now recognizing the positive impact of Tinubu’s bold reforms.
Uzodimma further emphasized that the APC operates within a framework of partisan democracy, where elections are conducted through political party sponsorship. He also noted that every attendee of the meeting was a member of the APC, regardless of their official roles. The gathering, according to Uzodimma, served to celebrate recent achievements and discuss ways to support party members and Nigerians who continue to stand by the government amid various distractions.
The Progressive Governors Forum, led by Uzodimma, remains committed to supporting the administration’s efforts and is focused on ensuring that the party serves Nigeria to the best of its ability. The governor reaffirmed the party’s dedication to backing President Tinubu in his pursuit of Nigeria’s progress.
Regarding Tinubu’s upcoming second anniversary in office, Uzodimma revealed that the APC National Working Committee is preparing to announce the anniversary programs, which will involve full participation from the party.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the meeting as an internal APC gathering. He highlighted that the purpose was to review the administration’s performance as it nears its midterm. Idris expressed satisfaction with the achievements thus far, noting that the party will intensify efforts to communicate these successes to the public. Additionally, he mentioned plans to collect feedback from Nigerians to enhance future government performance.
Idris reiterated the importance of unity within the APC, emphasizing that the party remains on the right path despite challenges and is dedicated to fulfilling President Tinubu’s promise of a prosperous Nigeria. He ended by stating, “With God’s help, Nigeria will succeed.”
