Armed men kidnapped Justice Umukoro, a judge at Bayelsa State High Court 7, in Yenagoa on Saturday around 7 p.m. The abduction took place outside Kilimanjaro, a popular eatery in the Ekeki area. Witnesses reported that the attackers, dressed in black uniforms and wearing hoods, fired shots at the judge but missed. They used an unmarked white Hilux van to block his path and forcibly took him away. The judge’s black Toyota Prado jeep was left behind at the scene. A video capturing the incident, shared by a blogger named “This is Bayelsa” on Facebook, has gained attention online. In the footage, Justice Umukoro is seen resisting the kidnappers before being forced into the van, which then sped off. The incident has raised concerns about safety in the region.
