The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has sent a goodwill message to officers, soldiers, and their families as they mark Eid-el-Kabir. He commended their bravery, discipline, and sacrifices in protecting Nigeria, describing them as symbols of courage who continue to earn the country’s respect and pride.
In a message shared through the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, General Oluyede highlighted the importance of Eid-el-Kabir, noting that its theme of sacrifice closely reflects the daily lives of troops serving in difficult conditions.
He praised the soldiers for standing firm in the face of multiple security threats across the country, stating that their loyalty and professionalism have contributed to restoring peace in many areas.
Oluyede also honoured the memories of those who lost their lives in service, acknowledging the pain and sacrifices of wounded soldiers and the families of fallen heroes. He assured them that their efforts and legacies would not be forgotten.
He reaffirmed the army’s dedication to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and tackling rising security challenges. He urged troops to remain focused, united, and committed to their duties.
The Army Chief thanked President Bola Tinubu for his strong support and leadership, which he said have helped in building a more secure nation. He encouraged military families to observe the Eid celebrations with a spirit of gratitude, humility, and renewed commitment to service.
