Troops from Operation Hadin Kai successfully neutralised 60 terrorists in Bita, Borno, following a combined land and air attack carried out overnight. A military source in Maiduguri confirmed the militants were overwhelmed after a fierce clash at 1:09 a.m. on Friday.
The operation involved the 26 Task Force Brigade of Sector 1 working alongside the Nigerian Air Force. It began after terrorists attempted to assault a military position. Precision airstrikes from A-29 Super Tucano aircraft and the Dragon platform destroyed two enemy gun trucks and eliminated several insurgents.
The initial encounter resulted in over 60 terrorists being neutralised. Ground troops then launched pursuit operations to chase fleeing militants. Additional airstrikes continued, destroying more vehicles and forcing some terrorists into nearby forests.
A senior military official, speaking anonymously, called the attack one of the most decisive strikes against ISWAP in recent months, highlighting the effective coordination between air and ground forces.
Bita, located in the Gwoza area of southern Borno, has experienced a recent surge in terrorist activity. This success marks an important step in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North-east.
