Who is your most admired contemporary African writer and why do you chose him/her?

Well, Obari Gomba is my favorite. Obari Gomba is a poet. He is from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria where oil is deposited and extracted in large quantities. Sadly, the Deltans are the most impoverished in the country. The pipelines that run on their lands, at their 聽backyards transport oil to distant cities; the oil is used to paint beautiful pictures of these cities and provide different amenities that make life enjoyable, but neglecting and abandoning the Deltans. The people live in destitute. 聽Obari Gomba's poems address these issues. He does this using thought provoking words that create images about the people and their poor conditions in the mind of readers. Obari Gomba is not just a writer but a preacher.聽
