Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the 2027 elections will be a major shift for Nigeria, warning that politics will not be as usual. Speaking in Abuja after meeting with Kannywood stakeholders, northern influencers, and political figures, Atiku emphasized the growing momentum among opposition forces working to challenge what they see as the current administration’s failures.
The delegation was led by Dr. Aslam Aliyu, a key Zamfara politician and head of the PAA 2027 New Media & Digital Communications Forum. The group expressed support for a planned coalition ahead of the 2027 elections. According to Atiku, this alliance aims to rebuild the country and respond to what he described as Nigerians’ clear demands for better leadership.
He said the coalition was formed to reflect the people’s frustration with insecurity, economic hardship, and governance. Atiku urged his guests to actively engage in public education and help voters understand why a united opposition could offer real change.
He also addressed concerns around rising insecurity and poverty, saying the coalition has the skill and determination to fix the problems if given the mandate. During the meeting, some northern stakeholders admitted they no longer support the ruling party and have felt let down by the government’s performance since 2023.
