Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, has openly declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, alongside members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano North Senatorial District. The endorsement took place on Tuesday during the official launch of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo. The institution was recently upgraded from a Federal Polytechnic following a request by Senator Barau, which President Tinubu approved without delay.
Speaking at the event held in Kabo Local Government Area, Barau highlighted the President’s commitment to Kano and the broader northern region, especially in the education sector. He recounted how quickly the President responded to the proposal to convert the polytechnic into a university, adding that a separate request for a new Federal Polytechnic in the area also received prompt approval.
Barau praised Tinubu’s consistent support for developmental projects, including the reinstatement of the upgrade of Yusuf Maitama Sule University to a federal university after a previous reversal. He described Tinubu as a leader who listens and acts swiftly on matters affecting the people.
Minister of State for Housing, Alhaji Yusuf Ata, also commended the President for prioritizing education and working to reduce regional inequalities. He emphasized that such projects not only strengthen infrastructure but also offer young people more access to quality learning opportunities.
The event drew a large crowd of dignitaries and community members from within and beyond Kano State, marking what many described as a significant step forward for federal involvement in regional education.
