Bayern Munich have reportedly secured a £65.5 million agreement to sign Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool. The Bundesliga champions reached the deal after their initial £59 million bid was rejected by the Merseyside club. Diaz is now expected to undergo a medical in Germany, having been granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia.
Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, made a strong impact during his time at Anfield. He helped the club win the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup, and was a key figure in last season’s title-winning campaign under manager Arne Slot. The 28-year-old featured in 50 matches across all competitions, scoring 17 goals.
He was notably absent from Liverpool’s recent 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in a Hong Kong friendly, further fueling speculation about his move. Coach Arne Slot acknowledged the growing rumours but refused to confirm the transfer, saying the decision to rest Diaz was mutual and precautionary.
Bayern see Diaz as a direct replacement for Jamal Musiala, who is sidelined indefinitely after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup. The German giants are eager to fill the gap with a proven and versatile attacking player.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been active in the transfer market, bringing in playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. Defensive reinforcements have also arrived with Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, while Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili joined from Valencia. Reports suggest Liverpool are also weighing a move for Newcastle forward Alexander Isak, who is valued at £150 million.
