Bribe Attempt Fails as Police Arrest Man Trying to Sabotage Kidnap Probe

FCT police arrest 40-year-old man who tried to bribe officers with ₦1.5m to free a kidnapping suspect. Officers reject offer, uphold justice and integrity.

A 40-year-old man, Yahaya Saleh, has been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for attempting to bribe police officers with ₦1.5 million to secure the release of a suspect linked to a kidnapping case. The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Scorpion Squad, who are currently investigating a notorious kidnapping group operating in Abuja and nearby areas.

Saleh reportedly approached the investigators and offered the money as a bribe to influence the case and secure the illegal release of one of the arrested suspects. The officers, however, turned down the offer and immediately arrested him.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, praised the officers for their integrity and professionalism, emphasizing that the police will not tolerate any form of corruption or obstruction of justice. He reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to the rule of law and its resolve to bring all members of the kidnapping syndicate to justice.

Investigations into the case are ongoing as police continue efforts to apprehend other suspects involved.
