Chris Brown’s London Nightclub Lawsuit Dropped by Alleged Victim

Chris Brown gets a win in his legal fight as the man who accused him of assault in London drops the civil case, though a criminal trial still looms.

American singer Chris Brown has gained relief in one of his legal troubles after the man who accused him of a violent nightclub assault in London officially withdrew his lawsuit. Abe Diaw, the alleged victim, had filed a civil case in 2023 claiming the singer hit him multiple times with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle and stomped on him while he was unconscious during an incident at TAPE nightclub.

Diaw said the attack left him with serious injuries. However, on Friday, he submitted documents to a Los Angeles court requesting that the case be dismissed “with prejudice,” which means it can’t be brought back to court. Such dismissals often indicate a private settlement, although no official statement has been made.

Despite this dismissal, Brown’s legal troubles are not over. UK authorities are still pursuing criminal charges from the same incident. British prosecutors have charged him with assault and possession of a weapon. He was arrested earlier this year shortly after arriving in the UK for his world tour.

The R&B star was later released on bail and entered a not-guilty plea in court roughly ten days ago.
