Court Adjourns Otudeko’s Case to June 11 for Settlement Report

The Federal High Court adjourns the case involving Oba Otudeko until June 11, 2025, for a report on settlement progress in the ongoing legal matter.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has scheduled June 11, 2025, as the new date for receiving a report on the settlement efforts in the legal case involving Oba Otudeko, Chairman of Honeywell Group, and several others. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke decided after the first defence counsel, Mr. Bode Olanipekun, SAN, informed the court that negotiations were ongoing. He assured the court that the settlement talks were not yet off but remained active.

At a previous hearing on March 17, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, shared that a meeting had been organised under the guidance of the Attorney General of the Federation. This meeting, which included all counsel involved, aimed to resolve the case peacefully. Prosecutor Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari acknowledged the status of the negotiations but requested the case be adjourned for a settlement report or arraignment.

The case has been adjourned once again, with the court set to review the progress of the settlement or proceed with arraignment on June 11. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a 13-count charge against Otudeko, former First Bank MD Olabisi Onasanya, former Honeywell board member Soji Akintayo, and Anchorage Leisure Ltd. The arraignment, which was initially scheduled for January 20, had been delayed due to the defendants not receiving their charges.
