Croatia’s Foreign Minister, Gordan Grlic Radman, confirmed on Saturday that the country’s consul in Israel and his wife were lightly injured after an Iranian missile hit their residence in Tel Aviv. The couple’s apartment was damaged during the overnight strikes, part of Iran’s military response to Israeli attacks.
“I’m deeply disturbed that our consul and his wife were injured. Thankfully, they’re safe and their injuries are not life-threatening,” Grlic Radman wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. He added that the foreign ministry remains in close contact with the Croatian embassy in Israel and is actively working to protect its diplomats.
Grlic Radman condemned the strikes, stressing that attacks on civilians and diplomatic properties are unacceptable. He urged all parties to de-escalate the conflict immediately.
Tensions soared after Israel launched large-scale airstrikes across Iran on Friday, targeting nuclear facilities, military installations, and residential areas. Iran reported 78 deaths and over 300 injuries from the initial wave. In retaliation, Iran fired drones and missiles into Israeli territory, killing three people and injuring dozens.
