Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of 106 individuals linked to various serious crimes in the first quarter of 2025. This was confirmed by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olufemi Abaniwonda, during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Asaba. Among those arrested are 35 individuals suspected of armed robbery, 24 suspected of kidnapping, 21 facing allegations of murder, and 22 believed to be involved in cult-related activities.

The Commissioner also confirmed that four individuals were taken into custody over cases related to rape and defilement. In addition to the arrests, 13 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued by police operatives during this period, reflecting ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.

In terms of firepower, the police recovered a total of 53 firearms, including 11 AK-47 rifles, nine Beretta pistols, 19 locally made or single-barrel guns, and 13 pump-action guns. A significant cache of 5,612 rounds of ammunition and cartridges was also seized in various operations.

Abaniwonda praised the Delta State Government, sister security agencies, and residents for their ongoing support, noting that their collaboration played a major role in these accomplishments. He encouraged the public to continue sharing credible information and remain alert, stressing the importance of community involvement in keeping the state safe.

He closed with a firm reminder to the public: anyone who notices something unusual should report it. His words were clear—safety is a shared responsibility.
