Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has issued a strong directive to security agencies, demanding the swift and safe rescue of Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, a High Court Judge abducted by gunmen in Yenagoa on Saturday. Speaking during a thank-you tour in Sagbama Local Government Area, Diri condemned the attack and called it a shameful act that must not go unpunished. He confirmed that the abductors were caught on CCTV footage and warned those responsible, including their sponsors, that the state would hunt them down. According to the governor, the state’s ongoing investments in security—especially in surveillance systems—are already yielding results. He stressed that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. Diri also revealed that he summoned top security officials immediately after learning of the incident and instructed them to ensure the judge is released unharmed. He maintained that no one has the right to instill fear in citizens, adding that the government is determined to stop such threats from taking root in Bayelsa.
