Easter Message: Kebbi Governor Calls for Peace, Unity, and Renewed Hope

Kebbi Governor urges Christians to embrace Easter as a time for peace, unity, and reflection, calling for collective prayers for Nigeria’s progress.

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State extended warm Easter greetings to the Christian community, calling the occasion a time to reflect, pray, and spread hope. In his message on Sunday, he encouraged Christians across the state to use the season to promote peace, unity, and the development of both Kebbi and Nigeria.

He highlighted Easter as a period that symbolizes sacrifice, love, and the triumph of light over darkness. The governor reminded citizens that Easter isn’t just a celebration—it marks the end of Lent, a time of fasting and self-discipline observed by Catholics and some Protestant denominations. Historically, Easter was formally recognized in 325 AD when the Council of Nicaea set guidelines for its observance based on the lunar calendar.

Governor Idris urged everyone to reflect on the virtues of Jesus Christ—patience, tolerance, compassion, and understanding—and to put those values into practice in everyday life. He emphasized that these qualities are essential in building a strong, peaceful society.

Acknowledging current challenges facing the state and the country, he reassured citizens that better days lie ahead. He described Easter as a powerful reminder that difficult times do not last forever and that hope and resilience will lead to brighter days.
