ECWA Urges Nigerian Government to Prioritize Security and Economic Stability

ECWA calls on Nigerian leaders to focus on security, address inflation, and implement policies to ease economic hardship in the country.

During its 72nd General Church Council (GCC) meeting held in Jos, Plateau State, the leadership of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) expressed serious concerns over the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria. In a statement delivered by ECWA President, Rev. Job Bagat, the Church urged the government to take stronger actions against the rising violence, including frequent killings and kidnappings, particularly in states like Borno, Benue, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Plateau.

While acknowledging the efforts of the government and security agencies in tackling insecurity, ECWA emphasized that attacks and killings continue to escalate, highlighting the need for further measures to protect citizens. The Church called for a unified approach, stressing that the safety of all Nigerians should be the top priority for leaders at every level of government.

In addition to security concerns, the Church also voiced its dissatisfaction with the economic hardship many Nigerians are facing. They pointed to rising inflation, the unstable cost of petrol, high unemployment rates, and deteriorating living conditions as major issues affecting the population. ECWA urged the government to reassess harsh economic policies and implement strategies that would create better job opportunities, reduce poverty, and improve the quality of life for ordinary Nigerians.

The meeting concluded with a call for solidarity among Nigerians and a prayer for peace and justice to prevail across the country.
