Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, recently mocked Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate, over his visit to the inauguration of Pope Leo XVI in Rome on May 18. Fani-Kayode shared a video on social media showing Obi alongside former Ekiti state governor Kayode Fayemi at the entrance of the papal room. The footage revealed security personnel questioning both men.
In his post, Fani-Kayode claimed that the security agents denied Obi access to see the Pope. He also suggested that the situation be a lesson for Obi’s supporters, known as the “Obidients.” He advised them to focus on places where they are valued rather than tolerated.
Fani-Kayode wrote, “Despite Cardinal Arinze’s noble efforts, Peter was not allowed to see the Pope. He was beautifully bounced until President Bola Tinubu intervened, allowing him to later pay homage. However, he was not allowed near the Pope and instead went to honor our President.”
The post sparked significant discussion, with Fani-Kayode urging Obi’s followers to consider where they are truly appreciated.
