The Federal Government has asked All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled states to step up efforts in spreading the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly at the grassroots.
Speaking in Minna, Niger State, during a two-day conference of information commissioners from APC states, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the government’s Eight-Point Agenda is being executed with discipline and a strong focus on development.
He pointed to key reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, which he described as a bold step that freed up funds for major infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway and the Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway.
Idris noted that increased revenue allocations to states have supported progress in vital sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture. He urged state information commissioners to engage the public more actively, ensuring they understand and benefit from these reforms.
“You are the voice of government where you serve. Go back with facts and energy to communicate what the government is doing,” he said, encouraging the use of tools like the National Orientation Agency, community engagement, and data-driven campaigns.
Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State, represented by Alhaji Abubakar Usman Gawu, praised the initiative, stating that public trust relies heavily on how policies are communicated. He said APC-led states are already delivering results in digital services, education, and infrastructure.
Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Folorunso Aluko, stressed the importance of coordinated messaging. He announced a plan to align media strategy between the Federal Government and APC states through a unified policy, shared content hub, and national communication calendar.
He described the framework as a transformative tool for achieving consistency in public messaging and ensuring citizens across all levels understand the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
