The Federal Government has urged information commissioners in All Progressives Congress (APC)-led states to actively share the progress and benefits of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda with the public.
Speaking at the opening of a two-day conference of APC state information commissioners in Minna, Niger State, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris, said the Tinubu administration has been working hard to implement its campaign promises through a clearly defined eight-point agenda.
The event, organised by the Progressives Governors’ Forum, was designed to help promote the activities of the APC-led government at both federal and state levels.
Idris emphasized that President Tinubu had not campaigned on vague promises, but on a detailed plan focused on national development, economic growth, and the welfare of Nigerians. He noted that the federal government has begun putting those plans into action across all ministries and agencies with discipline and commitment.
He highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the boldest reforms under Tinubu’s leadership. While acknowledging the initial hardship it caused, he said it was a necessary step to prevent economic collapse and redirect funds to key infrastructure projects. These include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Calabar-Abuja Super Highway, Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway, and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway.
Idris also pointed out the growing investments in social services and increased monthly federal allocations to states. According to him, this boost in funding is already allowing governors to roll out impactful projects in education, healthcare, roads, and agriculture.
He stressed that the success of these efforts depends heavily on how well they are communicated to the public. Without effective messaging from state information managers, he warned, many citizens may not be aware of the progress being made.
