Federal Government urges striking nurses and doctors to return to work, promises resolution through dialogue as key meeting is scheduled for Friday.

The Federal Government has appealed to striking health workers, especially nurses, to end their ongoing industrial action, assuring that all outstanding issues can be resolved through peaceful negotiation.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, made this known on Wednesday while speaking with journalists after the Federal Executive Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. President Bola Tinubu chaired the meeting.

Pate revealed that the government will hold a crucial meeting with representatives of the nurses and doctors on Friday to address the concerns that triggered the strike. He emphasized that efforts are already underway to resolve the issues and that concrete steps have been taken to meet some of the workers’ demands.

The minister also announced the Federal Government’s approval for the establishment of an Oncology Centre at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, highlighting the administration’s broader commitment to transforming the country’s healthcare system.
