A major fire broke out late Friday night at the Marina Pinnacle, also known as Tiger Tower, a 67-storey residential skyscraper in Dubai Marina that houses nearly 4,000 people. The blaze started around 9:30 p.m. on the upper floors of the building, forcing hundreds of residents to flee.
Emergency responders battled the fire for about six hours through the night. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that all 3,820 residents from 764 apartments were safely evacuated. Live updates shared on X stated that the fire had been contained by Saturday morning, though smoke continued to rise due to cooling operations.
A resident who was on the 24th floor said he first noticed a burning smell around 9:45 p.m. and spotted firefighters outside while checking from his balcony. Despite the delay in communication from security, he and his wife managed to escape using the lift, as the stairwell was filled with smoke.
People who escaped gathered on the streets while firefighters worked to control the flames. The authorities and building developer are now helping affected residents secure temporary accommodation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
