A firefighter in Anambra State is currently recovering from serious injuries sustained while trying to put out a fire in Onitsha on Tuesday morning, April 15. The blaze erupted in the early hours at a residential building located at Okosi by Ugwunaobamkpa junction, drawing emergency responders from the Anambra State Fire Service. Confirming the incident, Fire Chief Mr Chukwudi Chiketa stated that fire crews were quickly dispatched to the scene with the necessary firefighting equipment.
While the team succeeded in putting the fire under control, one of the responders was badly hurt during the operation. The injured firefighter was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and showing signs of recovery.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. Chiketa praised members of the public for their help in tackling the flames, noting that their cooperation played a vital role in preventing the fire from spreading further.
