Five Arrested After Vice Principal was Attacked Over Preventing Exam Malpractice in Ondo State

Five people arrested after Ondo Vice Principal was violently attacked for stopping exam cheating during WASSCE; police launch full investigation.

The Ondo State Police Command arrested five individuals connected to the attack on Mr. Alexander Rotifa, Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College Aule, Akure. The incident followed Mr. Rotifa’s confiscation of a student’s mobile phone, which was allegedly used to cheat during the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The student reportedly reported the Vice Principal to his mother, Mrs. Dorcas Asije, who is among those arrested. It is alleged that Mrs. Asije hired thugs who attacked Mr. Rotifa at the school. Despite police efforts to intervene, the attackers overwhelmed officers, dragged Mr. Rotifa from a police vehicle, and assaulted him severely.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Alayande, confirmed the arrests and stated the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The Ondo State Ministry of Education has also launched an inquiry into the matter. Authorities urge the public to stay calm and report any suspicious activities to the police.
