Rivers State Governor Fubara promises a quick return to office and praises President Tinubu’s intervention that prevented political chaos in the state.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reversed his earlier stance and announced plans to return to his office at the Government House soon. Speaking to supporters and community leaders in Port Harcourt, Fubara thanked President Bola Tinubu for his timely action that helped prevent a potential breakdown of order in the state amid a political crisis. He emphasized that a peace and reconciliation process is already underway, aimed at restoring normal operations in both the Executive and Legislative branches.

Fubara assured citizens that democracy and good governance would soon be fully restored, with government arms working together for the benefit of the people. He asked supporters and residents to appreciate the president’s intervention and urged everyone to commit fully to the ongoing peace process for the state to move forward. According to the governor, without the president’s involvement, the political situation could have worsened significantly.

While acknowledging that some people have grievances and anger over recent events, Fubara called for forgiveness and unity, stressing that the state’s interests must come first. He apologized to anyone disappointed by his handling of the crisis, explaining that his decisions were driven by a need to protect peace and progress.

The governor also revealed ongoing reconciliation talks with the former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, with meetings held even at Wike’s residence. Fubara expressed confidence that peace between them would soon be achieved.
