Genesis and Desert Technologies Partner to Power Over 600 Million Africans

Genesis Energy and Desert Technologies sign strategic deal to deliver solar power and battery systems to underserved African communities.

Genesis Energy Holding, a major Pan-African clean energy firm, has entered into a strategic partnership with Desert Technologies Industries Factory CJSC to expand access to renewable energy across Africa. The agreement targets over 600 million people on the continent who still live without electricity.

This collaboration builds on an earlier memorandum signed in Dubai between Desert Technologies’ CEO, Khaled Sharbatly, and GENESIS Chairman, Akinwole II Omoboriowo. Under the new agreement, GENESIS’s solar and storage division will act as Desert Technologies’ preferred partner for the African market. The goal is to roll out high-efficiency solar photovoltaic and battery storage systems, with a focus on mini-grid and large-scale power projects.

The deal was officially signed at the Africa Energy Forum (AEF), where both companies emphasized their commitment to sustainable partnerships that align with Africa’s electrification goals.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Omoboriowo said the partnership is more than just a business deal—it’s a move to empower local communities, drive economic growth, and support Africa’s shift to cleaner energy. He highlighted how GENESIS will use Desert Technologies’ advanced solar solutions alongside its experience in developing and financing energy projects.

Mr. Sharbatly of Desert Technologies described the partnership as a strategic step in bringing Saudi energy innovations to global markets, particularly in Africa. He praised GENESIS’s strong local presence and said the partnership will deliver long-term results, one community at a time.
