Gunmen Abduct 76-Year-Old Retired Major in Kogi State

Gunmen suspected of kidnapping have taken 76-year-old retired Major Pastor Josiah Ajayi in Kogi, sparking fears and calls for better security.

In Kogi State, a 76-year-old retired Major in the Nigerian Army, Pastor Josiah Ajayi, was kidnapped by gunmen suspected of being kidnappers. Ajayi, a former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Kabba-Bunu chapter, was abducted from his home in Odo-Ape, a rural community located along the busy Kabba-Obajana-Lokoja highway. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Reports reveal that the attackers fired shots for over an hour before taking the retired officer to an undisclosed location. As of the latest update, the kidnappers have not made contact. The community is deeply concerned, with many residents urging for stronger security measures in the area.
