A vigilante team member in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, has been shot and killed by suspected kidnappers. According to eyewitnesses, the victim was attempting to save a woman reportedly taken into a nearby bush by armed men.
Sources say the man, armed with a rifle, rushed into the area in an effort to rescue the woman after witnessing her abduction. Unfortunately, he was shot during the confrontation and died at the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the man saw the woman being taken away and decided to intervene with his weapon. “He took his gun to try and rescue her, and that was how he got shot,” Edafe explained.
However, police noted that no formal report of the woman’s abduction had been made to the authorities as of the time of the statement. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
