The medical term for fibroids is "uterine leiomyoma" or "fibroid tumor." They are also sometimes called "myomas." Fibroids are the most common type of non-cancerous tumor in women. They can develop at any age, but are most common in women in their 30s and 40s. While fibroids are not cancerous, they can sometimes cause problems and require treatment. The rhesus factor (also known as the Rh factor) is a blood antigen that is found on the surface of red blood cells. In the context of fibroids, it's worth noting that women who are Rh-negative (i.e., do not have the rhesus factor) are at a higher risk of developing fibroids. This is thought to be due to the fact that the Rh factor plays a role in hormone regulation, and an imbalance of hormones can lead to the development of fibroids.
