A Rare Sexually Transmitted Infection Beneath the Cozy Duvet.

There is a sexually transmitted infection that is on the increase in recent times. I have seen two cases of it this year alone. They look like skin-colored or whitish bumps that show up on your vulva, vagina, cervix, penis, scrotum, or anus.

Do you know this vegetable called Cauliflower? That's how they kind of look.

GENITAL WARTS.

You can have just one wart or a bunch of them, and they can be big or small.聽

They might be itchy, but most of the time they don't hurt.

A few days ago, a young lady in her early 20s came with genital warts.

She could barely walk because hers were in a bunch, gray-colored, itchy, and bleeding. Genital warts can go away with appropriate treatment but can grow in size or number if left untreated.

According to her, she has had it for months but was ashamed (and afraid) to show anyone. She had never seen anything like that before. Now warts have spread like a small tree (shrub) all over her genitals and have extended to the perineal area. She might be needing surgery (Electrocautery, Surgical excision, or Laser treatment) for them to be removed. And this thing can bleed eh.

I am optimistic she will be fine.

Genital warts are caused by an infection with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This virus also can cause cervical cancer but the types of HPV that cause genital warts do not usually cause cancer. The virus is highly contagious and can spread easily through skin-to-skin contact. Passed from person to person through se.xual activity.

Do not forget to carry condoms in your pockets and purses this year. You don't want to experience this nightmare, darling.
