A traffic incident involving a truck loaded with hot dogs caused a messy scene along Interstate 83 in Pennsylvania on Friday, just north of the Maryland border. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the truck suffered mechanical problems before crashing into another vehicle. The impact forced the trailer against a concrete divider, which ripped open the container and released a large quantity of hot dogs onto the roadway.
The resulting spill led to a significant traffic jam and a complicated cleanup operation. Shrewsbury Fire Company Chief Brad Dauberman, who responded to the scene, said the fallen hot dogs became a hazard due to their unexpected slipperiness. “Once those leave the truck and hit the road, that’s all garbage, and it’s still pretty warm,” he explained. Reflecting on the unusual situation, he added, “I can tell you personally, hot dogs are very slippery. I did not know that.”
Authorities confirmed that four people sustained injuries, though none were life-threatening. Emergency crews worked quickly to treat the injured and clear the road. The incident is under investigation.
