Nollywood actress Age Anthony revealed a troubling experience with a movie marketer that almost made her quit producing films. Early in her career, Anthony was deceived by a marketer who convinced her to put his name on her movie jacket. After producing her first film, she discovered the marketer had gone to a TV station and collected the payment meant for her. This left her feeling cheated and undervalued, as she earned very little while the marketer profited from her work.
Anthony explained that things started well in her career, but soon took a bad turn due to dishonest marketers who benefited from films they didn’t create. She recalled the shock of seeing her movie aired on TV while the marketer received the money. Too shy to confront the situation at the time, she quietly endured the loss of over N1 million to the marketer’s actions. This experience almost discouraged her from producing more films.
Before entering the film industry, Age Anthony began modeling at age five, featuring in calendars and billboards for major brands. She made her acting debut in 1997 in the movie Heart of the Father, the Baby Girl, and was first runner-up in the Miss Nigeria pageant in 2002.
