Imo Government Brings Down Criminal Hideout in Owerri

A well-known hideout linked to drug trafficking and illegal arms dealing in Owerri has been demolished by the Imo State Government. The structure, located in the Ama Hausa area of the city, was identified as a base for criminal gangs involved in hard drug distribution, gun running, and other violent activities.

The Governor’s Special Adviser coordinated the operation on Monitoring and Compliance, Hon. Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, following surveillance and intelligence gathering. Several suspects were arrested during the raid and handed over to security operatives for further investigation.

Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, confirmed the demolition and described it as part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across the state. Hon. Nwaneri made it clear that the state would not tolerate any form of criminal enterprise and vowed that every syndicate would be targeted.

Members of the Hausa community in Imo welcomed the move, expressing their support for the state government’s efforts. Community leaders described the demolition as necessary to protect their image and promote peace. They also praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for taking bold steps to improve safety and ensure no group is above the law.
