IPAC Pays Tribute to Buhari, Hails His Unyielding Spirit and Democratic Legacy

IPAC mourns former President Buhari, praising his resilience, integrity, and dedication to democracy as a lasting legacy in Nigeria’s political history.

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has paid glowing tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a symbol of unwavering determination who helped strengthen Nigeria’s democracy. Buhari died in London at the age of 82.

In a statement released by its National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, IPAC expressed deep sadness over the passing of the former leader, praising his decades-long commitment to national service.

Buhari, a retired army general and one-time military Head of State from 1984 to 1985, later returned to politics and contested for the presidency three times before his eventual victory in 2015. IPAC commended this persistence, stating that his dogged pursuit of democratic leadership set an enduring example for Nigeria’s political landscape.

The council highlighted Buhari’s legacy of integrity and discipline, recalling his role in launching the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) and his efforts to combat corruption. It described him as a leader who inspired both his contemporaries and future generations through his commitment to good governance.

IPAC further recognised Buhari’s role in promoting national unity, noting that he remained a stabilising figure in a country often challenged by its ethnic and political diversity.

The council extended condolences to Buhari’s family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, offering prayers for strength and comfort. It also wished the late president eternal rest, honouring his life of service to Nigeria.
