Joe Rogan has shared the reasons behind his last-minute decision to host Donald Trump on his podcast just before the 2024 presidential election. Speaking on the “Ultimate Human” podcast, Rogan said several political events and media behavior changed his mind about having the former president on his show.
He pointed to the wave of legal cases against Trump as a turning point. Rogan criticized how a bookkeeping case, which he described as a minor offense, was stretched into 34 felony charges. He claimed the charges were exaggerated and long past the legal time limit. What shocked him more was how people celebrated the outcome, calling Trump a “convicted felon.”
Rogan warned that if such actions could be taken against a wealthy former president, everyday people should be worried too. “They can do that to you,” he said. “This is insane.”
Another major reason he gave was the attempted assassination of Trump in Pennsylvania. Rogan said the situation could have become a repeat of history, comparing it to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
He also criticized the media’s handling of Trump, saying it lacked fairness. Rogan felt Trump was constantly taken out of context and unfairly portrayed. According to him, no one was giving Trump a proper chance to speak directly to the public. Rogan believed voters deserved to hear unfiltered plans from all candidates and decide based on that.
After hosting Trump in late October—a podcast episode that has now reached over 59 million views—Rogan went on to publicly endorse him just before election day.
