In a series of coordinated operations across Anambra’s three senatorial districts, the Joint Security Task Force (JTF) has arrested six suspected armed robbers. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Anambra State Vigilante Corps, resulted in arrests in Anambra North, Central, and South on Monday. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Wednesday. Among the seized items was an English Beretta pistol, which was recovered from the suspects in Ifite village, Oko. The suspects reportedly admitted to being part of the “Beggars’ Confraternity” and identified a well-known gunrunner, “Kiss Me,” as their supplier. Authorities have launched a manhunt for this fugitive.
In a separate operation at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, security operatives arrested four individuals who were caught vandalizing electrical infrastructure. Assorted cable wires were recovered from the scene. SP Ikenga emphasized that these operations are part of the JTF’s ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity and maintain security throughout Anambra state.
