Kamala Harris to Appear on Colbert, Launches Candid Memoir on Failed 2024 Run

Kamala Harris promotes her new book on Colbert, breaking silence on 2024 loss and sparking buzz over a possible 2028 presidential bid.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is set to appear on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Thursday night, marking her first televised interview since her 2024 presidential defeat. Her visit comes just days after announcing her upcoming memoir, 107 Days, which recounts her brief campaign following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the Democratic ticket. Harris ultimately lost to Donald Trump in a contentious election.

Published by Simon & Schuster and due out September 23, the memoir offers a behind-the-scenes look at Harris’s whirlwind campaign. The publisher’s CEO, Jonathan Karp, praised the book as “one of the best works of political nonfiction” and described it as a “firsthand account of history.”

Harris has also confirmed she won’t run for governor of California in 2026, fueling speculation that she may already be eyeing another White House run in 2028.

Her appearance on Colbert’s show comes amid controversy over CBS’s decision to cancel the late-night program, with its final episode slated for May 2026. Critics allege political motivations behind the move, pointing to Colbert’s outspoken criticism of Trump and his support for Democratic figures, including Harris. The show has long been known for its left-leaning commentary and frequent interviews with Democratic politicians.

Colbert, who recently targeted Trump during his broadcasts, also ridiculed Paramount for settling a lawsuit filed by Trump over the edited airing of a “60 Minutes” interview with Harris. While some suspect political pressure behind the show’s cancellation, reports suggest CBS had already been planning to cut the costly program, which reportedly ran up expenses of over $40 million annually.
