Kano Vows to Revive Crumbling Schools, Tackle Waste Dumping in Classrooms

The government says it inherited decayed schools and will fix them while cracking down on public misuse of learning spaces.

The Kano State Government has promised to repair public schools left in poor condition by the past administration and restore the state’s education system. This assurance came from the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, during an inspection visit to Murtala Muhammad Senior Secondary School in Tarauni Local Government Area. He was shocked to find the school grounds being used as a refuse dump and pledged to stop such misuse immediately.

Makoda stated that many schools are in terrible shape and that the current administration is already working on renovations. He also visited Government Girls Secondary School in Guringawa, where classrooms are being renovated. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and reaffirmed that Governor Abba Yusuf remains committed to providing a healthy learning environment and access to quality education across the state.

According to Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, the government aims to improve the entire education sector, starting with the schools most in need.
