“Keep Families Out of Politics” — Lawyer Condemns Use of Governor’s Daughter in Viral Video

Lawyer Ejikeme Ogbodo slams viral video involving Akwa Ibom governor’s daughter, calls it an evil political tactic and urges boundaries in politics.

A rights activist and Abuja-based lawyer, Ejikeme Thompson Ogbodo, has condemned the use of Governor Umo Eno’s daughter in a resurfaced video aimed at tarnishing the governor’s image. The clip, which shows Jane Eno accusing her father of attempting to use her for ritual sacrifice, reappeared shortly before the second anniversary of the administration.

Ogbodo described the act as deeply troubling and unethical. He stressed that politics should have boundaries, and involving family members for political gain crosses a moral line. He urged political parties to treat such behavior as serious misconduct, warning that those responsible should face consequences.

Referencing the governor’s move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogbodo pointed out that party affiliation is a personal decision and should not be subject to such malicious tactics. He advised Jane to resist being used against her father for any political agenda, especially during a time when the family is still mourning the loss of the governor’s wife.

Governor Umo Eno also responded publicly, dismissing the video as a calculated attempt to distract from his administration’s progress. Speaking in Uyo, the governor confirmed that his family remains united. He clarified that the video was recorded shortly after his wife’s death and questioned the timing of its reappearance.

He noted the clip resurfaced just as the state prepares to celebrate two years of achievements. “That tells you there are people working hard to distract me. But I’m focused and committed to serving the people,” he said.

Governor Eno stood beside his daughter during the press briefing, reinforcing the message of unity. He ended with a plea for privacy, stating that even in politics, family should never be a target.
