Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and former Kano State Governor, has emphasized that the Kwankwassiya movement and NNPP are founded on ideology, not financial gain. He made this clear while welcoming 1,230 former supporters of Hon. Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila back into the party at his residence on Miller Road.
Kwankwaso expressed happiness in receiving members who support the movement’s vision rather than its monetary benefits. He described their return as a major step toward promoting politics based on principles and collective goals, setting NNPP apart from parties driven by money.
Representatives of the returnees, Jamilu Zamba and Maryam Romo, praised Kwankwaso’s leadership, highlighting his honesty, consistency, and focus on grassroots development. The defectors mainly come from Albasu, Sumaila, Bunkure, and Tofa local government areas within Kano South Senatorial District. They previously aligned with the Waraka political group and had followed Senator Sumaila when he left NNPP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso reiterated his commitment to politics centered on issues and ideology, reaffirming that the NNPP stands firm against the politics of the highest bidder.
