Lagos State has released a traffic advisory ahead of Tuesday’s ECOWAS Summit, which will take place at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island. The event will attract several high-profile guests, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In preparation for the summit, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, outlined alternate routes for motorists to help ease movement and reduce gridlock during the summit. The advisory includes rerouting options for different areas expected to experience heavy traffic.
Motorists moving from Eko Hotel Roundabout towards Lagos Island or the Mainland are advised to take Adetokunbo Ademola Road, pass the Civic Centre, and continue on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road to Bonny Camp Roundabout, then turn right. Another option is to use the Falomo Ramp near the Law School for quicker access.
Drivers going from Eko Hotel Roundabout to Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku, or nearby streets can exit through Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola Roads, connect via Sanusi Fafunwa Street, continue on Akin Adesola Road, and turn left at the junction to reach Ahmadu Bello Way, Atlantic City, or Adeola Odeku. Turning right at that junction will lead to Falomo Bridge or the Law School area.
From Kofo Abayomi Road to Bonny Camp or Ozumba Mbadiwe, those exiting from the Lagos Continental Hotel side should take Kilimanjaro Junction to connect to Ozumba Mbadiwe Road. A left turn leads to Bonny Camp Roundabout, while a right turn heads toward Lekki.
Motorists coming from Bonny Camp to Kofo Abayomi Road are advised to follow Ozumba Mbadiwe Road and turn right at Kilimanjaro Junction, heading toward the Lagos Continental Hotel area.
Drivers approaching from Independence or McEwen Bridge should turn left at the IMB Junction along Ahmadu Bello Way by Atlantic City, then proceed through Akin Adesola Road and connect to nearby inner streets.
Commissioner Osiyemi confirmed that officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be positioned along these routes to manage vehicle flow and reduce disruption for residents and commuters.
