A Lagos resident, Olawale Ogunbadejo, has been sent to Kirikiri Correctional Centre after being charged with illegally dumping waste on a public road. The Magistrates Court ordered his remand on Wednesday, with a trial set for June 26. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi, shared the update on social media, confirming Ogunbadejo’s detention.
Ogunbadejo, who lives on Ajiboye Street in Alapere, was filmed dumping waste on the Alapere Link Bridge on May 21. Earlier on the same day, the Lagos State government appealed for help in locating him, offering a reward for any information leading to his arrest. Ogunbadejo was eventually caught in a joint operation by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI.
