A 35-year-old man, Tiron Alexander, has been convicted for fraudulently flying for free over 120 times by pretending to be a flight attendant. A statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida confirmed his conviction on June 5, 2025. He was found guilty of wire fraud and illegally entering secure airport areas under false pretenses.
From 2018 to 2024, Alexander repeatedly used an airline’s internal booking system meant exclusively for employees, such as pilots and cabin crew. By posing as a flight attendant, he successfully secured complimentary seats on dozens of domestic and international routes.
Court documents revealed that he falsely claimed employment with seven different airlines. Through the airline’s booking process, he submitted fake credentials, including over 30 badge numbers and employment dates, to bypass the system. These details were apparently not cross-checked or flagged by the airlines involved, allowing him to exploit the loophole multiple times.
Evidence presented during the trial showed that Alexander not only used the system to book free travel but also impersonated active flight attendants while onboard. The exact method he used to repeatedly access the internal platforms across different airlines has not been fully explained.
He is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Becerra on August 25, 2025. Alexander faces up to 20 years in prison for the wire fraud charge and up to 10 additional years for illegally accessing secure airport areas.
