Nigerian artist Micho Tello, born Harry Uduak Michael Omoh, has named Afrobeats icons Wizkid and Davido as major influences in his decision to pursue a professional music career. Hailing from Akwa Ibom State and raised in Warri, Delta State, the young talent, also known as Tha Illest, began writing songs at age 11. Early exposure to rap artists like 50 Cent, DMX, and MI Abaga shaped his style, blending Afropop with conscious hip-hop. In 2016, Tello recorded his first trap/rap track, 7 Years, inspired by Nasty C, which gained local popularity and confirmed his commitment to music. A key moment came when veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem advised him to address Nigeria’s socio-economic issues in his work. This led to Tello’s 2019 Afro Hip-Hop single E De Pain Me, which won a competition and secured a feature in Ghana’s The Big Wave Magazine in 2019/2020. Tello is now set to release two new singles: Why, a versatile Afropop track, and Acrimony, a raw, personal conscious hip-hop song. These projects aim to highlight his range and deepen his connection with listeners.
