A deadly attack occurred in the early hours of Friday at Agbo Vengav community in Udam, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State. Reports confirm that seven people were killed, including women and a young girl. The attackers, suspected to be herdsmen, struck around 1:00 am when the community was asleep.
According to local sources, several residents are still unaccounted for. One source disclosed that a young girl lost her life during the attack, while her mother was taken by the gunmen and has not been seen since. Another source explained that the armed group entered the village under the cover of darkness and opened fire on sleeping residents.
At the time this report was compiled, efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command for an official response were unsuccessful. A search for missing persons continues as the community reels from the violence.
